Senior Cantor Tifani Coyot
Tifani Coyot joined the Temple Beth Am family as Senior Cantor on July 1, 2021. A sought-after worship leader and teacher, she is known for creating meaningful and joyous Jewish experiences that unite the body, soul, and mind. Relationships and community are central to her life as clergy, and she strives to inspire others to use Jewish wisdom to enhance their modern lives. She officiates at life cycle events and supports congregants in the hospital, in mourning and in celebration.
Cantor Coyot received her cantorial ordination at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion with a Double Masters in Sacred Music and Jewish Education. A strong believer in informal education, she has been active in Jewish summer camps and songleading since high school. While studying at the Hebrew Union College, she served on Student Government and was the president of the School of Sacred Music.
Over the past decade, Cantor Coyot has served in many leadership roles for the American Conference of Cantors, the Union for Reform Judaism and the Hebrew Union College. She served as the cantor and a member of faculty at the Hebrew Union College campus in Los Angeles. Prior to coming to Beth Am, she was the cantor at Temple Isaiah in Los Angeles. She is a composer and arranger of Jewish music, with a specialization in blending traditional and modern Jewish music.
Cantor Coyot graduated Summa Cum Laude from Temple University with a B.A. in Jewish Studies and a minor in Vocal Performance. She spent her junior year abroad at the University College of London, studying in the largest Jewish Studies department in Europe. It was in Europe where she met her husband, Loïc, who introduced her to the beautiful language, diverse culture and unique Jewish heritage found in France. An avid supporter of the Jewish community in France, she serves as Artist in Residence at La Communauté Juive Libérale in Paris. She has had the privilege to perform and concertize for a global audience and as a featured soloist in the Jewish community. Her worship services and musical performances have been highlighted on Jewish Life Television (JLTV).
Cantor Coyot is passionate about Israel, mental and maternal health, and social justice. During her free time, she enjoys spin classes, running, strength training and yoga, exploring nature, new restaurants and traveling. She is blessed to have a supportive husband, Loïc, and their two beautiful sons, Natanel and Rafael, who are thrilled to attend Rambam Day School.
