Visit to the Men’s Correctional Facility
Open to all adult members and family, the Brotherhood is coordinating a visit to a local prison to provide a meaningful and educational experience. Exchange for Change, a non-profit organization, has partnered with the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice to provide a group tour and respectful, structured discussions with incarcerated people. These discussions help them feel connected to outside society. Thousands of people in communities nationwide have participated in this program. They have found that the encounters foster understanding and empathy for both the visitor and the incarcerated individual. Popular culture has perpetuated stereotypes about incarcerated people, thus promoting stigma and masking the very real and enduring challenges of prison.
Help enrich the lives of others and perhaps even your own by joining your fellow members in this powerful experience.
