2017–18 — Donald McClaskey
Congratulations to Donald McClaskey, 2017–18 recipient of The Harry Gunther Service Award, which is presented to a deserving Beth Am member who has worked for the benefit of the Temple community in a way which would be considered “above and beyond.”
The award was presented at the Temple Beth Am Annual Meeting on June 10, 2018.
Donald McClaskey was first elected to the Temple Beth Am’s Board of Directors in 2015 and continues to serve on the congregation’s governing board.
In 2016, Donald was one of the organizers of the reconstituted Brotherhood of Temple Beth Am and was selected as its Founding President. In May 2018, he was elected to a two-year term.
For several years during High Holy Day services, Donald has volunteered as an Usher. On Friday nights, he can be found with his wife, Maritza, at Shabbat Services, and he is a regular participant at Saturday Morning Minyan, serving as one of the congregation’s Gabbaiim.
This award is named for Harry Gunther, a special man and founding member who made Temple Beth Am a high priority during his lifetime. His widow, Ethelle, remained an active member of the Temple Beth Am family for nearly 60 years until her death in 2013.
