Sunday Salon: Lag B’Omer Weddings!
Sunday Salon (on a Tuesday)!
Scholar Michael Milgrom will address the controversial question if in our day and age the institution of marriage has lost its luster and importance to those who prefer to forgo this rite. Should we consider marriage a thing of the past or does it still hold significance in the present? We invite our participants to share their weddings artifacts, i.e. Ketubas, and wedding announcements. This event is inspired by Lag B’Omer, a special day that is a minor festive holiday that falls on the 33rd day of the seven-week period between Passover and Shavout, traditionally a semi-mourning period that transforms into a single day of celebration. Presented in collaboration with the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Miami (JGSGM).
